Fire!

Every year at this time we get terrible brush fires in Southern California. This year was no different. There we 3 terrible fires within 4 days that destroyed 100s of homes. We are always so sad at the losses people suffer. My husband was on the Sylmar fire for 5 days with little sleep. He is such a trooper and loves his job. A fellow fire-fighter found this picture on the LA times of my husband with a hose on a 2-story house in Sylmar. Not often you can get a picture like this, so I thought it was worth posting.

"Lights, Camera, Action!"

Last Thursday was an amazing, and long, day. To make it brief, a friend of ours called asking if Josh would be interested in being in a commercial shoot for a Doritos commercial contest. She has friend that is a director, who wanted to submit a commercial for a contest...the winner's commercial will play during the Superbowl in January. They needed a home schooled boy, Josh's age, that fit his description. I felt like it would be a fun, educational experience for all of the kids to be able to see the making of a commercial. So, Louie and I took all the kids down for the day. We had to meet at Malibu Creek Park at 8:00 am to get the outside shots. then, we met the rest of the crew at the set that was made in Melissa Disney's backyard house. It was a very long day for the kids but definitely a great experience. (Also, my husband and oldest son, Jeremy, were in the scene - standing at the end of the bed). The commercial has been posted on the Doritos Website and voting will begin in January to determine the winner. It's a long shot, but wouldn't it be fun if it won?!
Here's the link:
Director explaining to Josh what he needs to do.

I love this face!

All the kids had fun exploring the hills while we were there...it was a beautiful day.

Director, Josh Weigel, and Assistant Director, Aaron Moore, work with the cast on their lines while waiting for the set to be finished.

Jake and Julia jumped on the trampoline pretty much the whole day...where do they get the energy?

Director Josh Weigel: very professional and thorough, yet so encouraging and patient.

Julia got to help "behind the scenes" a little with pushing the button for the fog machine...
AKA "atmosphere"!
I think Josh started "losing it" by the end of the day!!!!

It's a Wrap!!! After 13 hours, everyone was so happy we finally had everything we needed!

I Thought This Day Would Never Come....

I never thought I would have a blog. The funny thing is, a couple of years ago, I didn't even know what a "blog" was and thought it was such a FUNNY word! And here I am, starting my blog. I have no idea if I will be able to keep up with it and I have no idea what will come of it but I am going to make my best attempt. Up until this point, I have considered myself a scrapbooker. I am having the hardest time setting up all of my scrapbook materials and dedicating hours to it. I am, needless to say, quite a bit behind on my scrapbooks. This tortures me. So, maybe, just maybe, this will be a little easier to keep up with since all I need is my laptop (and a clear mind...which I am not sure is possible). Anyway, here I begin a new venture...we will see where it leads. Not much of a 1st post, but I had to start somewhere!
